On August 22, 2024, Anthony J. Magee, Managing Member of Magee Legal, PLLC, supported by his son, Alex Magee, President of AEM Creations, LLC, gave a timely, informative presentation to attorneys at Engage Workspace for Lawyers about the new Texas Business Courts, entitled: "Taking Care of Business" : Preparations for the Imminent Launch of the Texas Business Courts Go into Overdrive.
While the reference in the title of his presentation to the iconic Bachman Turner Overdrive rock song, Taking Care of Business, seemed to elude most of his audience—even as the song’s opening guitar riffs blared from his laptop—Magee managed nevertheless to deliver an engaging disquisition and lead a lively discussion about the jurisdiction, powers, and procedures of the newly minted Texas Business Courts and Fifteenth Courts of Appeals, which has exclusive jurisdiction over appeals from the Texas Business Courts.
The Texas Business Courts start “taking care of business” in high-dollar, complex business disputes in Texas’s major metropolitan areas (including Dallas and Fort Worth) from September 1, 2024. If you own or operate a business or are a high-stakes litigator in Texas, you need to know about this new specialist court because you or your clients may find themselves litigating there within a matter of days.
